Bad Gastein en Bad Hofgastein are famous of their thermal baths (thermen). In Bad Gastein are the thermal baths, from origin (ca. 1500), built in the rocks. Felsentherme>>>. Nowadays it is a swimming and relaxing paradise. Several pools above the 30˚C offer lots of possibilities for relaxing and wellness. There is also the possibility for a massage, head and shoulders or full body. For 3 euro extra you can also fitness next door.

It is no problem to bring your children with
you. They will also enjoy the amount of swimming pools, the waterfalls and
the slide. For de smallest children they even have a paddling pool. And Bad Gastein has a real
sport bath (> 3 m) outside with a diving board. The parents and other adults can enjoy the relaxing chairs, next to the swimming pool, outside or at the sauna. Frequently aqua jogging is organised. For the real sauna lover Bad Gastein has several types of sauna at the 2nd floor. Very special are the cave sauna and the stollensauna. It is recommendable to buy the Salzburgerland card as the price discount is very attractive, esp. for families.

Do you want to experience swimming and watching cinema (kino)? If so, we recommend a visit to the Alpenthermen in Bad Hofgastein>>>. They have also possibilities for a whole beauty day, a terrific massage or a thermal package. For a real thermal treatment or for e.g. rheumatic purposes you can visit the Heilstollen in Böckstein>>>,close to Sportgastein where you visit the Thermen by (small) trains, into the Goldberg>>. The healing effects of these ‘stollen’ are scientific proven, esp. for rheumatic purposes or other handicaps and diseases. But also for healthy people it is a delight and pleasant experience.

Gasteinertal has also a couple of 'simple'
swimming pools (and less expensive), indoor but also very nice ones
outdoor, e.g. a natural lake close between Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein,
or the
Solarbad Dorfgastein>>>,
next to the cable ways (ski lifts) in the village. In the summer you can enjoy the meadow
around the Solarbad, the slide and for the smallest a paddling pool.
They also have a nice sauna and Turkish
bath. Esp. recommendable is the sauna in the winter (outside in the snow).
Solarbad. Much better is the restaurant up the road. Quick, excellent service and delicious.

In
the summer you can visit the
Gasteiner Badesee>>>,
a beautiful natural lake with an enormous meadow. The water starts very
low (ankle deep). For the older children are there marvellous diving
boards and a wooden tower in the middle of the lake. You can find the lake
close at the golf playground, between Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein. It
is also possible to go by bike, in approx. 45 minutes from our chalet.
With bad weather you can visit the Hallenbad
in Zell am See>>> (approx
1/2 hour by car). A nice indoor swimming pool and a Turkish bath for
free. Also a paddling pool for small children. There is also a sauna (extra
costs). You can combine your visit with a shopping visit to Zell am See or
go for a walk along the lake of Zell am See.
